British R&B vet Craig David has been doing a bang-up job of promotion as he prepares his latest effort Commitment for its August release. We’ve gotten four singles from the upcoming set thus far, with his songs “In Your Hands,” “SOS” and “Commitment” also getting the visual treatment. Now that the fourth single “Wake Up” is out in the wild, Craig gets in front of the camera once again to work his magic for its visual.
The videos from Commitment have been fairly wholesome, and the clip for “Wake Up” follows suit. It opens with a youngster getting in from school on his birthday to find a vinyl record waiting for him. The camera eventually pans across the hall from the boy’s apartment, where we discover that his neighbor is none other than Craig David. The video then makes this development make sense as we watch the boy’s passion for music and life grow while simultaneously watching Craig create his own music.
Eventually, the boy, now a teenager, walks across the hall and gets a chance to spin his tunes for Craig and his crew. Judging by the reaction, it seems that all that time the kid spent shedding paid off big time. The clip ends with the sounds of Craig’s praise as the camera pans across the hall to the room where it all started.
Like his clip for “In Your Hands,” “Wake Up” is yet another heartwarming Craig David video that reminds us of what can happen when you dare to dream. We’ll surely be dreaming of the singer all summer as we await the arrival of Commitment on Friday, August 8th. And we have a feeling that there will be more singles and visuals to come in the meantime.
