Time-honored children’s show Sesame Street is celebrating its 55th season of helping youngsters learn and teaching important values. The theme for this season so far has been helping kids deal with the big feelings that come with growing up, and they’ve done so with some major star power. Among the guests this year are stars like Michael B. Jordan, Renee Rapp, Chris Stapleton and many more. One particular star that many of our audience will be familiar with is R&B songbird SZA, who made an appearance on this week’s episode.

The singer, who made it known that she wanted to appear on the program way back in 2017, makes her debut on the show with “Be Kind To Me, Be Kind To You.” The ditty finds the singer teaching the youth about the importance of being kind to oneself and others while showing gratitude for all things in life. She shares her segment with her Muppet friends Elmo, Gabrielle and Abby Cadabby while teaching them what a gratitude jar is and giving them catchy adages like “gratitude’s the right attitude.”

And if the sound of the song feels a bit familiar, it should. The song was penned and produced by none other than Phonte, Zo! and Emmy Award-winning composer Bill Sherman. The trio crafted a pretty remarkable kids’ song that doesn’t sound like it’s pandering, especially with Zo! handling all the musical accompaniment.

As anyone who’s been touched by its 55-season run can tell you, Sesame Street always finds a way to touch your heart, and this time isn’t any different. Allow SZA to teach you a lesson in kindness when you watch the clip of her segment below. And if your young one (or maybe someone who’s just young at heart) wants to catch the latest episodes of Sesame Street, you can find them on Max every Thursday or on the PBS Kids video app in Fall 2025.
