Singer-songwriter and actress Hailey Kilgore continues to wow us. The Power Book III: Raising Kanan star last gave us a burst of her musical talent with last year’s single “Drama Queen.” She’s now finally back bringing the heat with her newest single “Dangerous Game.”
The song is a seductive cut about the desire to spin the block with an ex post breakup. That’s a simple description, but Hailey’s pen delves into the complexities of having a burning desire for an old flame. Despite her knowing that things are over and done, she’s willing to believe the lie that things can be what they once were — even if it’s just for one night.
“Oh, oh, love’s a dangerous game / Oh, oh, how far can we take it?” she sings over the sparse, seductive electronic production that’s courtesy of ThaEastieBoyz. “Oh no, I don’t wanna wait for the next love / I want you to want me, babe.”
“I wrote the song by myself in the last 45 minutes of a 10 hour writing camp,” Hailey said of the song in a press release. “I want people to take away that the complicated feelings are completely normal. That’s part of falling out of love. When you have finally come to the realization that a relationship as you have known it is changing, that’s when you start to feel like you can’t control your emotions the way you want to, love becomes a ‘Dangerous Game.’”
