Alex Isley is ready to pop out with her EP WHEN this month. Before she drops that set, though, the singer-songwriter pops her ish on her newest single “Ms. Goody Two Shoes.”
On “Ms. Goody Two Shoes,” Alex assumes the role of a very demure, very mindful, very modest kinda woman who has a wild side on the low. She expresses her duality through lyrics that are both clever and alluring on the silky smooth Camper production.
Isley entices her lover from the door as she welcomes him into her sanctuary. She’s secure and confident as she sings, “Mama taught me be polite / But also talk my s**t / Listen closely these the only words that you gon get.” She’s clearly ready to get down to grown folks’ business and share her many talents beyond singing.
She keeps the come-ons coming on the seductive chorus. “’Cause she is everything you imagine / Grab a hold of me when it happens / Yes, it’s immaculate, and it’s magic / Thank your lucky stars imma let you have it,” Alex coos. She’s not one to fly her freak flag in public, though, and makes sure that they have an understanding when she sings, “Ooh-ooh, but it stays between me and you / Ooh-ooh, to the world I’m Ms. Goody Two Shoes.”
Alex even cross-references “Good & Plenty,” her 2020 collaboration with Masego and Jack Dine, to let her undercover lover know that she’s been about this life.
Isley reunites with Patrick Cage, her leading man from the “Hands” video for the “Ms. Goody Two Shoes” visualizer. We join them in his parked whip with Alex sitting pretty in the passenger seat. She alternates between singing to him and throwing sexy glances at the camera as they get a little touchy-feely. The tasteful visual ends before they take the action to the backseat.
