It looks like Madison McFerrin is ready for her new era. The singer-songwriter thoroughly impressed with her official debut I Hope You Can Forgive Me, which featured standout singles like “God Herself” and “Please Don’t Leave Me Now.” Two years later, she’s showing off another side with her latest single “Ain’t It Nice.”

Produced by Julius Rodriguez and Maddi St. John, “Ain’t It Nice” dances with jazzy synth keys and bass offset by a pulsing rhythm that sets things in motion. The soundscape fits in line with the vibes that Madison has been curating ever since she stepped on the scene, but it also feels like a natural stylistic evolution as she builds upon her past work and heads in a new direction.

Speaking of new directions, “Ain’t It Nice” is perhaps the most seductive the singer has been on record. The song finds Madison in the role of a cocksure lover inviting someone to taste and see that her boasts are, in fact, true. “Is it hard / To keep me out your thoughts / Distracting from your plots / You can’t afford to spend the time,” she teases on the first verse. “But I can tell / You wanna know me well / Come fall under my spell / And I’ll make sure you’re satisfied.”

She doubles down on this seduction in the song’s visual, though with a darker edge. In it, she plays a femme fatale with nothing but her man (played by her real-life beau Jacy Cunningham) on her mind. But, while it seems that he’s in for a night of pleasure, things shift quickly as Madison reveals her ulterior motive. We won’t spoil exactly what that motive is, but we will say that it paints the songstress in a whole new light.
