Jordan Hawkins and his unique blend of rock and soul influences is giving just the right amount of edge needed to burn through the mainstream clutter. And the singer-songwriter has been doing just that, especially with moody recent single “Emotions.” The crooner and guitarist isn’t through tapping into his raw, vulnerable energy, though, as he’s just released his latest cut “Crazy.”
The song hinges on a devilish electric guitar riff played by Jordan himself. It attacks the senses immediately, just before drums, bass and the star’s own vocals join the mix. From there, he gives us the lay of land when it comes to his toxic situationship. After commenting on how combustible their love is on the song’s verses, he breaks it all down on the chorus.
“We’re both crazy, know it’s toxic / Busting out windows and breaking bed frames,” he sings. “We make up and fight more often / Praying love will solve our problems.”
The song’s video plays into the fiery passion that Jordan sings of, with he and his band playing in a literal ring of fire. That’s more than enough to get his point across, but the artist and his band take it even further by setting their instruments ablaze while playing them. We are sure all those open flames kept things hot on set. But what has us a little hot and bothered is Jordan’s command of the camera as he looks right at us with smoldering eyes near the video’s end. We soon realize, however, that it’s his lady he has eyes for.
“Crazy” is sizzling hot, but we wouldn’t expect anything less from a talent like Jordan Hawkins. Listen to the song right here. Then stick around to watch its fiery music video as well as a live performance of the song for On The Radar.
