This year so far has been full of tour announcements, with several faves planning to hit the road in a city near you. However, there haven’t been many tours featuring some of the greatest talents of the last century. A major one will take place this spring, though, as legends Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle and Stephanie Mills are set to join forces for The Queens Tour.
The four powerhouse divas are each known for having a commanding stage presence and entire catalogs of hits, so a good time is sure to be had. And don’t even get us started on the possibilities of live collaborations between the women (our hearts just fluttered thinking about the foursome sounding off on a song like “Lady Marmalade”).
The 11-date tour is set to kick off on May 9th with Chaka, Gladys, Patti and Stephanie taking the stage at Las Vegas’ Michelob ULTRA Arena. From there, the women will hit venues across the US — including Los Angeles, Birmingham, Nashville, Brooklyn and Chicago. And, according to tour promoter Black Promoters Collective, the tour will resume later this year with a new slate of dates in September and October.
Each of the ladies announced the tour by posting the flyer on their socials, with Chaka Khan effusing on Facebook, “I’m beyond excited to hit the road with three incredible women...for a tour that will be nothing short of legendary! The Queens are bringing the music and the magic to a city near you.”
We believe her! A presale for the tour is set to begin this Thursday, March 20th at 10 a.m. local time via the Black Promoters Collective website. Those looking to take advantage of presale can use the code “BPC.” On Friday, March 21st, tickets will go on sale to the general public via the same website at 10 a.m. local time.
