It’s go time for Coco Jones. The GRAMMY Award-winning R&B darling will release her first full-length album Why Not More? in April, closely followed in May by the Why Not More? Tour. As she continues her debut LP’s rollout, Coco gave fans an exclusive “Taste” of what her live performance game looks like on The TERRELL Show’s first-ever concert.

Jones and host Terrell Grice have quite a history together. Known for his upbeat personality, celebrity interviews and music-related content on his namesake series and wildly popular YouTube channel, Grice welcomed Coco to The TERRELL Show in 2020. They hit it off so well that they created a spin-off named T And Coco, and she returned to The TERRELL Show in 2022 to sing “Caliber.” Now both Coco and Terrell have leveled up with the debut of The TERRELL Show Concert series featuring her as the first musical guest.

Grice wrote, produced and creatively directed the concert, and Jones took his blueprints and made it a performance to remember. Starting with one of her older songs “Just My Luck,” you can hear the emotion in her voice as she blew listeners away with her riffs and runs. This number set the tone for the rest of the concert, which was recorded in front of a live audience.

Coco then sang her GRAMMY-nominated Babyface duet “Simple” from his Girls Night Out compilation before breaking out her GRAMMY-nominated single “Here We Go (Uh Oh)” with a little audience call and response. She continued to give the crowd amazing vocals but also showed her playful personality and stage presence making for a captivating show.

She also performed a mashup of “No Chaser” and one of her recent singles “Sweep It Up.” The band and background vocalists made these seamless arrangements and mashups even more satisfying. They followed Coco’s lead effortlessly, matching her energy with the different moods of each track.

Of course, she performed her current single “Taste,” which samples Britney Spears’ “Toxic.” Coco and her crew played around with that interpolation, mixing the sampled song into Jones’ version. She then performed a medley of “Crazy For Me” and “Double Back,” and the musicians intertwined SWV’s “Rain” into “Double Back” and even mixed in Sunday Service Choir’s rendition of “Rain,” blending both versions into one perfect mix.

The songstress also performed her breakout hit “ICU” and provided yet another beautiful vocal moment. She asked the audience to sing along and led another call and response, keeping the crowd engaged.

Jones ended the concert and said her thank yous and goodbyes before Terrell asked her to sing one more song. She teased the crowd with snippets of songs she hadn’t sung yet, thinking out loud which song to sing. She finally settled on “Put You On” for her encore, and delivered arguably the most memorable performance of the entire set as the credits rolled.

Coco’s confidence was evident throughout the whole show, but for her final tune, it was on 100. She sang the craziest adlibs, riffs and runs, almost creating a separate version from the original track. One viral moment from the concert showed her holding out a riff, making stank faces as the band went silent and came back in to massive applause. She bodied this song as if she was never going to sing it again.

Coco Jones did her big one on the inaugural TERRELL Show Concert. She made each song special with smooth and crisp vocals, fresh adlibs and runs and her magnetic energy. She proved that she is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to the art of live performance.
