Alex Isley is making moves and mood music. After years of excelling as an independent artist, amassing a dedicated fanbase and garnering a GRAMMY nomination, she has signed a record deal with Free Lunch/Warner Records and is set to release her new EP WHEN in April. Alex introduces her forthcoming major label debut with the enchanting single “Hands.”

Like her legendary father and uncles (Ernie Isley and The Isley Brothers, for the uninformed), Isley is a natural when it comes to crafting a sensual tune, which she does once again here. She gets an assist from in-demand producer Camper who lays down a warm sound bed featuring electric guitar, synths and percussion. Alex’s soft, delicate vocals combined with the song’s seductive lyrics are the perfect blend of sugar and spice.

“Hands” finds the songstress longing for her lover’s touch. Alex sweetly sings on the first verse, “Been traveling and it’s been too long / The weeks feel like months since I’ve been gone, yeah / These sheets on my skin the only touch I’ve known / Nothing like the feeling that I left back home.”

Later in the song, she details how much she misses her man’s hands and warm embrace. “Your palms and fingertips stimulate me / Curves anticipating / I’ve been meditating / On the places your caress could take me,” she coos, fantasizing about their next tryst.

Alex has a more public rendezvous in the “Hands” visual. Partially set in a dimly-lit nightclub, director City James plays with light and darkness to convey the attraction between Isley and her handsome co-star Patrick Cage. Sparks fly when they come together to share intimate moments in the shadows and when the scene changes to the couple having a romantic romp between the sheets.

“There’s so much power in a touch that’s rooted in love and affection,” Isley stated about the theme of “Hands” via press release. “The memory of it can remind you how much it’s really worth. This is an ode to really being in the moment with your person.”
