Kevin Ross has been one of the most consistent and enjoyable male R&B singers to emerge in the past decade. The GRAMMY-nominated DMV native now has a new song to add into rotation with his latest single “Love In The Middle,” the first sample of his forthcoming EP Love Uptempo, Vol. 1.
Ross enlisted the talents of proven hitmakers Claude Kelly and Chuck Harmony – also known as the duo Louis York – to help craft “Love In The Middle.” The result of their collaboration is a feel-good love song about appreciating your other half in a relationship. He shows his appreciation through thoughtful lyrics.
After focusing on his grind for too long, Kev comes to his senses and refocuses on his lady. He is ready to treat his real one like the queen she is. “And ooh, I just wanna blow your mind / So move your plans around, while you adjust your crown / So you can let your hair down,” he croons on the pre-chorus, making her an offer she can’t refuse. He continues sweetening the deal on the chorus, singing, “’Cause you worked all day / And you’ve been going through things / Yeah, you deserve a break / So let’s stop for a little, put love in the middle.”
After working together on this infectious track, the fellas of Louis York had nothing but praise for Kev.
“It’s crazy how easy it was to work with Kevin in the studio. The chemistry was just there immediately. He knows what he’s doing, he knows his voice, he knows R&B music in a real way,” Claude Kelly gushed about working with him via press release.
Chuck Harmony echoed Kelly’s sentiments, stating, “It’s always a pleasure when the artist knows who they are and what direction they want to go in musically. Kevin knew exactly where he wanted to go so we explored and created something unforgettable. ‘Love In The Middle’ is a special one.”
A perfect addition to your Valentine’s Day playlists, “Love In The Middle” is one of four new songs that will be featured on Kevin Ross’ next EP Love Uptempo, Vol. 1, which is due to be released on Friday, March 14th. To coincide with the EP’s release, Kev is going on the Love Uptempo Tour presented by SiriusXM Heart & Soul.
The Love Uptempo Tour will hit nine cities this spring and summer. The jam-filled journey will begin in March in St. Louis, Missouri. From there, Kevin will entertain fans in Chicago, Baltimore, Atlanta, Nashville, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Boston. The tour is currently scheduled to end this July in New York, but that will likely change as more dates are on tap to be announced.
