The last time we caught up with songbird Halle on the music tip, she introduced us to her sexier side with the single “Because I Love You.” The singer has kept us waiting ever since while featuring on a few other projects — including her sister Chlöe’s Trouble In Paradise and on the deluxe edition of FLO’s debut Access All Areas. These features don’t mean she hasn’t been working on her own material, though, which she proves by giving us her new single “Back And Forth” as a special Valentine’s Day gift.
“Back And Forth,” which boasts production by Needlz, is a minimal, piano-led groove. The singer then fills in the rest with a simple-yet-effective vocal as she requests that we skip the arguing and talking and, instead, get right down to business.
“Don’t wanna get into it (back and forth) / I know that you’ve been through it (back and forth),” she sings on the chorus. “No, I don’t wanna do it (back and forth) / Just come right over here and shut the door.”
The song comes with a V-Day-themed visualizer bathed in hues of red, pink and gold. It opens with her sitting against a pink-curtained backdrop viewed through a red, lip-shaped cutout. We are then zoomed in to get into Halle’s full essence in a beautiful white outfit dripping with pearls. Other scenes — one in which she wears a beaded and bejeweled red number with a flowing red veil and a glittering gold gown — complemented that initial one, giving us three chances to gaze at the singer’s gorgeous visage. Each featured look is just as stunning as the next and only enhances our enjoyment of the moment Halle is having.
It seems that Halle is currently content with dropping a single every now and again. But hopefully “Back And Forth” is a sign of a fuller project to come. While we wait and see what our girl has in store, listen to her newest single and watch the Valentine’s Day-themed visualizer when you head below.
