It seems to be time for Coco Jones to step out and shine. The GRAMMY Award-winning singer, whose song “Here We Go (Uh Oh)” impressed fans and peers alike, has slowly but surely been building her career. And now she’s announced that her debut album, Why Not More?, is finally on the way. But before its arrival, she’s decided to give us one more “Taste.”

That’s the name of the songstress’ new single, and it shows a more racy side of Coco. She looks to producers Stargate and Jasper Harris to turn up the heat. They, in turn, give her a synth-based mid-tempo with drums that have that stutter-stop feel of early 2000s R&B. But the biggest takeaway also comes from the early 2000s, as the song repurposes the chorus of Britney Spears’ 2004 pop hit “Toxic” as its own.

Like Spears’ song, “Taste” finds Coco falling under the spell of a lover who’s got it like no other. However, Jones has a much more lustful disposition. “Got me where I’d never be / Way you kiss my lips and leave a legacy / Oh, to live without you, what a tragedy,” she sings on the verse. “I can’t get enough / All up in my conscious / I don’t want another touch without you there / If I’m being honest, I’m falling in love.”

Jones also channels Spears in the song’s video — along with giving us shades of industry peers like Normani and Tinashe. She spends the majority of the clip in skintight catsuits of varying hues and embellishments as she bends, contorts and moves in ways designed to titillate. She more than succeeds in her mission as she gives us an eyeful of her beauty and leaves us begging for more.
