Craig David Sends Out His ‘SOS’ & Announces His ‘Commitment Tour’ For UK Fans

It’s been 25 years since British crooner Craig David first crossed over with his debut single “Fill Me In” and first album Born To Do It. He’s been making waves on both sides of the pond ever since, even releasing new singles like last year’s “In Your Hands” and collaborating with newer artists to keep his sound relevant. Though he may be celebrating his career’s silver anniversary, he’s showing no signs of slowing down as he releases his newest single “SOS” and announces his upcoming Commitment Tour set to bow next month.

“SOS” finds Craig sitting pretty in the pop/R&B niche that he’s carved out for himself. Producer Tré Jean Marie creates the sound bed, incorporating steel drum synths, programmed snaps and drums, and piano to create a sound that’s loving and light-hearted. It perfectly complements the song’s lyrics, which show Craig taking a leap for love and hoping to be caught by his beloved.

“I’m sendin’ out an SOS, SOS / I feel love and now I realize,” he sings at one point. “I’m sendin’ out an SOS, an SOS / And I hope that you hear me tonight, come and save me.”

The song’s video puts the singer in an awkward situation. As he finishes what seems like a great night out on a double date with a female companion and his friends, he is embarrassed when his car refuses to start. Rather than ruin the vibe, he sends everyone to the next spot while he deals with the issue. This, of course, leads into the song. The narrative part of the clip ends there as we are then taken into a more stylized vision as we switch between Craig on a soundstage and out in the elements.
