2024 has been very kind to Tinashe. Not only did it bring her highest chart performance since becoming an independent artist, but she also dropped her sixth studio album Quantum Baby to much acclaim. The set also found an audience thanks to the singer’s tireless promotion efforts — including dropping videos for beloved tracks “Nasty,” “Getting No Sleep” and “No Broke Boys.” The indie pop star keeps the vibes going with the release of the set’s fourth music video, a clip for her track “Cross That Line.”

“Cross That Line” is a beautiful, Z3N-produced ballad that takes the idea of a love song into futuristic territory. Mainly, though, it’s about Tinashe being ready to be more than just friends with a romantic interest. “I don’t wanna miss it if it’s right there / I don’t wanna run out of time / You could be the love of my life / I’m ready to cross that line,” she sings on the chorus.

The video takes a different interpretation of the song’s touching lyrics, however. It keeps with the story that Tinashe’s been telling with Quantum Baby’s lead visual for “Nasty” as her character is now apprehended and taken to some sort of asylum. After being dragged kicking and screaming through the hallway, she’s left in a spacious cell where her every move is monitored and watched.

Tinashe being, well, Tinashe, puts on a show in a sexy white outfit that looks to be made of strategically placed bandages. She soon sees that the image of herself on the screen isn’t congruous with who she is and tosses a TV through the room’s mirror. This act leaves her standing on the other side of the broken glass with the fierce look of a woman on a mission as she faces the crowd of people who’ve been watching her.

The fact that the clip for “Cross That Line” line ends with such a cliffhanger almost guarantees that this won’t be the last Quantum Baby visual that we’ll get. We might have to wait a while, though, as Tinashe is currently on her Match My Freak World Tour with stops in Australia, Asia and Europe on the horizon (not to mention an appearance during this year’s edition of the Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve special).

As we anticipate what’s next, watch the singer break out in the visual for “Cross That Line” below.
