It seems like we just got a music video from Tems. And, in fact, we did when she dropped a video for “Turn Me Up” a couple of weeks back. The singer isn’t going to leave 2024 without making a little more noise for her debut album Born In The Wild, though. Perhaps that’s why she’s already back with yet another visual from the set, this time giving us a music video for the Asake-featuring “Get It Right.”
Where “Turn Me Up” found Tems on location sparking a fire in Kingston, Jamaica, “Get It Right” looks to the 1990s and early 2000s for its own inspiration. That means that this one is heavy on style in every sense of the world. Tems appears in a few different outfits that are styled to match the sets she stands in. This includes a look with a skin-tight, shiny black dress and ebony locks to match a black-themed set and an alluring white-and-silver ’fit and wavy white hair to match a room with a stark white background. The same is done for featured guest Asake, who dons a black leather outfit with green accents to blend with his set.
This level of attention to detail evokes classic videos like Destiny’s Child’s “Say My Name” or George Michael’s “Fastlove.” But don’t worry, the Laura Marciano-directed clip doesn’t just ape those videos. Instead, she manages to infuse Tems’ own style and sex appeal into the proceedings while focusing the lens on the singer’s jaw-dropping beauty.
We’ve only got three more weeks of 2024 to go, but something tells us this video might not be the last we see of Tems. While we anticipate what’s next, watch the video for “Get It Right” right here.
