Melanie Fiona is back from her hiatus like she never left. She returned to heavy rotation in October with the release of two scorching new singles, “Say Yes” and “I Choose You.” Fiona keeps the momentum going to end the fourth quarter strong by dropping an official music video for her lovers rock tune “I Choose You.”
The “I Choose You” visual is a framily affair. Mel is accompanied by a few of her nearest and dearest friends, including Goapele, DJ Jasmine Solano and Shekem of Jake & Papa, to bring a hot and sweaty dancehall reggae club to life.
Director Logan Meis captured the songstress and her crew in the intimate setting featuring wood paneling on the walls, huge speakers and dark mood lighting. Everyone is coupled up on the dance floor whining and grinding on their partners and grooving to Melanie singing about the love who gives her life. She’s flying solo, so she doesn’t get a chance to match everyone else’s freak on the floor, but she does bust a “likkle 8-Count” with some quick choreography that is begging to go viral.
Melanie wrote about the process of making the video on Instagram. She shared a photograph and videos from the shoot, calling it, “Probably the most fun I’ve ever had and the most love I’ve ever felt while shooting a video. Director Logan Meis and I moved so quickly creating this concept,” she wrote. “I literally had 48 hours to put in all the calls and favors in hopes my people could show up for this shoot. On a Thursday afternoon, in the thick of Los Angeles rush hour traffic…EVERY SINGLE PERSON showed up for your girl.”
