If you’re a CAMP fam, then you’ve been eating well over the years. The artist formerly known as Aaron Camper has been prolific in recent years with a flurry of singles and EPs like 2023’s SummerBaby. Last month, the singer-songwriter surprised with the release of his newest EP, the self-titled CAMP. And now he’s inviting us in with the set’s newest single “DIVINE” and its visual.
“DIVINE” is what CAMP has dubbed an “ode to commitment” that is soaked in his unique brand of soul. Produced by Anikan & Vader and Gabriel Lambirth, the song explores the meeting of the holy and secular thanks to instrumentation that evokes both the best of gospel and soul thanks to churchy chords and drums that constantly build and fall, creating delightful tension. CAMP, meanwhile, speaks of how sacred the love he’s found is with his poetic lyricism.
“The Holy Ghost told me / That I want you to know this is something real / And I want you so close to me / So deep your so can feel / This ain’t nothin’ like you had in your life / This love is divine,” he sings on the chorus.
The video places CAMP in nature as we join him for a stroll through the park. That natural setting, filled with sunlight and good vibes, allows the singer to shine in his own element. Not to mention, the styling choice for him to wear a lemon-yellow crocheted shirt is inspired as it echoes the sun’s glow and allows an inner light to radiate from CAMP himself.
The song’s name says it all as “DIVINE” is a divine experience unto itself. You can experience the song’s visual, as well as the CAMP EP in full, when you head below. To add the set to your own collection, make sure you support the artist by picking up your copy from EVEN right now.
