It’s Mary J. Blige’s world, and we’re happy that she’s decided to share it with us for over 30 years. During that time, she has received numerous awards and accolades, and she recently received one of the biggest honors of her career with her induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. The Queen Of Hip-Hop Soul is also riding high from her single “Breathing” featuring Fabolous hitting No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart. With her 15th album Gratitude on the horizon, Mary is walking on sunshine into this next chapter, and she invites fans to tag along in the music video for her latest single “You Ain’t The Only One.”
Co-directed by Eif Rivera and Blige, the nine-time GRAMMY Award winner struts her stuff through the streets of New York City. Along the way, she encounters individuals going through trials, tribulations and the motions of life – until she crosses their paths and they experience a reversal of fortune.
We see a young woman in her apartment stressing out over a pile of bills. She looks out of her window and sees Mary singing on the sidewalk, and they exchange a smile. Following that brief moment, her man soon returns home from a job interview with some good news. Later in the visual, a sick older man reunites with his son after hearing “You Ain’t The Only One” on the radio and a homeless man gets off the streets after MJB blesses him with some money in his cup. All of the scenes play into the song’s theme of encouragement and Mary imploring listeners to never give up.
Watch Mary J. Blige walk it like she talks it in the video for “You Ain’t The Only One” below. Her new album Gratitude will be released on Friday, November 15th and is currently available for pre-save/pre-add on digital music platforms.
