On the eve of her induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, Mary J. Blige gifts fans with her brand-new single “You Ain’t The Only One.” The song is the latest listen from her forthcoming album Gratitude, and before the project drops in November, MJB heightens anticipation by also unveiling the cover art and complete tracklist.
Mary shares some wise words of encouragement in “You Ain’t The Only One” to anyone who feels stuck or down about their life. She wants listeners to know that she knows firsthand what they’re going through because she’s been there, too. Mary can relate to the struggle, but she turned her pain into prosperity and peace. The major key is to keep it moving and to keep manifesting your dreams.
Blige shares her message via catchy lyrics she co-wrote with Pat Kelly, Angelo “Doc” Velasquez and Jezus Rose set to a smooth R&B groove that lends itself to a Mary Bop co-produced by Kelly, Velasquez, Will Campbell and Aidan Brody.
She makes things clear on the chorus. “You ever been so alone all you feel is doubt / So lost you can’t find your way out / You ain’t the only one / You ain’t the only one / You ain’t the only one / You ever feel like you just want to give up / Sometimes you don’t wanna get up / You ain’t the only one / You ain’t the only one / You ain’t the only one,” Mary J. assures like the big sister, auntie or best friend in-our-head that she is to many.
“You Ain’t The Only One” is the second single from Gratitude, which Blige will release on her independent label Beautiful Life Productions in partnership with 300 Entertainment. In preparation for the set’s Friday, November 15th drop, MJB keeps fans engaged by sharing the front cover featuring a gorgeous photograph shot by her go-to photographer William Sterling and revealing the album’s tracklist with a handful of features. Aside from Fabolous, who joined Mary on lead single “Breathing,” Gratitude’s guestlist includes rappers Jadakiss, Fat Joe and FERG over the course of a dozen songs.
