Lalah Hathaway has been booked, busy and blessed while crisscrossing the country on her VANTABLACK Tour. Although it recently wrapped, she’s not slowing down. Lalah popped up on our television screens today on the Tamron Hall Show to paint it VANTABLACK with an acoustic performance of the album’s lead single “So In Love.”

Host Tamron Hall warmly welcomed the soul music royalty back to her New York City studio after Vanessa Williams and her daughter Jillian Hervey of LION BABE appeared on her show earlier in the hour. Continuing the episode’s “Showstoppers” theme, Hathaway joined Hall to chat about her new album, its exploration of blackness, her desire to collaborate with Tyler, The Creator and being an undercover comedienne.

For her performance, Lalah was flanked on stage by legendary guitarist Jubu Smith to her left and longtime supporting vocalists Kalo King and Jason Morales to her right. She may not have had her whole band with her for this stripped-down set, but this became a vocal showcase for Hathaway and her background singers. Everyone’s mics were on, but our girl sounded especially radiant and rich.

While we cross our fingers and wait to see if Lalah Hathaway rolls out more VANTABLACK Tour dates, watching her perform on the Tamron Hall Show is the next best thing. Press play to see her sing “So In Love” live and check out her interview segment with Tamron below.
