It’s been 31 years since Jermaine Dupri launched his label So So Def Recordings with the 1993 release of Xscape’s debut album Hummin’ Comin’ At Cha. R&B is central to So So Def’s origin story, and Dupri is still committed to the genre three decades later. He’s continuing his work with the next generation of singers and songwriters and will highlight a few at the So So R&B Experience concert next month in Atlanta.
The So So R&B Experience will go down at Wolf Creek Amphitheater on Saturday, October 12th. The lineup features Muni Long, who is fresh off of releasing her sophomore album Revenge, which JD had a hand in with his work on her latest smash hit “Made For Me.” The songstress is the only woman on the bill, but the men of R&B will be well represented by dvsn, Eric Bellinger and Vedo.
Jermaine will also perform at the event, where he’ll be joined by a surprise guest. Given the long list of R&B singers JD has collaborated with over the years, there’s no telling who will pop up and pop out on the mic at the show. Rounding out the So So R&B Experience will be “Made For Me” co-producer Bryan-Michael Cox and his business partner Keith Thomas with a special edition of their Ladies Love R&B party, which has become a staple on the Atlanta nightlife scene.
According to the event flyer, additional artists are to be announced, but we’re already sold with this solid lineup. Tickets for the So So R&B Experience are on sale now and available for purchase online via Etix and at the Wolf Creek Amphitheater box office.
