We still have a few official weeks of summer left, but FLO has us looking forward to this fall as the release of their debut album Access All Areas looms. With singles “Walk Like This,” "Caught Up" and “Check,” the trio already has us sure that the album will be in heavy rotation. But they seal the deal while showing their softer side on their latest single “Bending My Rules.”
The girls link up with producer Camper, who is bringing all the heat these final days of summer and gives them a smooth, romantic mid-tempo number. The track gives us all the soulful trappings — including keys, slick guitar, horns and strings that will have you wanting to snuggle up to your boo. The song’s lyrics further drive the mood home as the ladies make their case for love.
Stella Quaresma, Reneé Downer and Jorja Douglas have got it bad for their lovers. It’s to the point that they’re up late at night thinking about their men and willing to throw caution to the wind to make it work.
“But I’m nervous, I don’t do this / With just anyone, but you’re bendin’ my rules,” they sing on the chorus. “’Cause I’m nervous, so, so nervous / I don’t want nobody, nobody like I want you.”
The trio spoke further about the song in a press statement, saying, “‘Bending My Rules’ is such a captivating song and a softer side of FLO. It shows our vulnerability and it speaks to our current relationships with our boyfriends. It’s hard to be a baddie and a lover girl, but sometimes you just have to Bend Your Rules.”
