DUCKWRTH has flipped the script once again. The genre-defying rapper/singer-songwriter has dibbled and dabbled in everything from hip-hop to R&B to house. Now he’s exploring his alternative side to great effect. Earlier this year, he gave us a little taste with his single “Grey Scale.” Now he’s giving us more with his latest cut “Had Enough.”
“Had Enough” finds him getting rawer than before as he waxes poetic about vice and the many forms it takes. He melds a little alt-rock with funk and soul for the occasion, producing a groove that sticks with you as the song progresses. It sets up the subject matter nicely as he sings of himself and a comely young lady not knowing exactly when the party should end.
He sings of the excesses that he and his lady go to in the name of good time, with plenty of drink and drugs to go around. However, it seems that the biggest vice he has is her. “Can’t pretend we’ve had enough / This party ends when we say so,” he sings on the chorus. “She’s a brown eyed demon from the West Side (She tell me, She tell me) / In the nighttime she flies.”
The song’s visual completes the picture as it focuses on the morning after a bender. We see him on the come down as he sheds clothes and pours up some more while dancing around his crib. It becomes more and more apparent that he’s had more than enough as the clip continues on, with it eventually ending with an unplanned trip to the porcelain throne.
We can never have enough of DUCKWRTH and “Had Enough” is a perfect example as to why. Check out the song and its visual when you head below.
