Braxton Cook is slowly beginning the rollout process for his upcoming album My Everything. The multi-talented artist gave us a preview last month with the release of the set’s lead single “Zodiac.” The instrumental cut was the perfect introduction to what was coming. Now he’s tapping into his R&B side for the set’s next single “Weekend.”

“Weekend” is all about resetting, and it leads off with a mellow, measured groove that sounds like a throwback neo-soul joint. As the guitar, bass and drums set the tone, Braxton lays out the disconnect he’s feeling in his relationship and ponders exactly how to get back to how things were. He eventually proposes taking a weekend to work through the issues.

“Ima see ya on the weekend / I think we need a reset,” he sings on the chorus. “Just tell me where to begin / ’Cuz I don’t wanna miss it.’

Featured guest NNAVY joins him eventually, offering words of support and reassurance. “If you ever need me / Please do call me / I’ll be gentle with your heart,” she sings. “If you ever feel blue / And you need someone who / Makes sure you don’t fall apart.”

With fall having begun and the crispness of the season soon to settle in, “Weekend” is just the type of chill vibe we need on our playlists. Allow Braxton Cook and NNAVY to set the tone for your autumn when you listen to the stream right here and then watch its lyric video below.
