They say there’s no crying in the club, and our girl Amber Mark is out to prove that. The songstress has been releasing singles throughout the summer — including “Comin’ Around Again,” “Space & Time” and her cover of “Lovely Day.” Now she’s calling us to the dance floor with a bit of disco flair on her latest single “Won’t Cry.”
“Won’t Cry” is a full-on workout inspired by Giorgio Moroder’s work with the legendary Donna Summer. The song bubbles over with pulsing synths and pounding drums from the moment it begins. It sets Amber up quite nicely to play the role of disco diva, which she does with aplomb.
The anthem seems in line with the likes of Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive” at first as she speaks to the lies of her lover that, at first, had her going out of her head. But if you thought she would shed a tear over someone who can’t love her right, then has she got news for you.
“You bomb my heart with your love / I let you in then you drown me deep in excuses,” she sings on the song’s pre-chorus. “No, I won’t cry for an end, that never began / I won’t waste my time on you, yeah.” She then goes on to triumphantly declare on the chorus, “No, I won’t cry / For a waste of time.”
The well-crafted song — which was written, produced and performed by Amber herself — will be featured on the multi-talent’s upcoming EP Loosies, which is meant to tide fans over until she releases her second album. Though she hasn’t officially announced the EP’s release date, we have a feeling that we can expect it soon. Until then, you can stream “Won’t Cry” and watch its glittery lyric visualizer when you head below.
