Vanessa Williams is ready to make what will likely be a stunning comeback with her upcoming album Survivor. The industry veteran has shown us that she indeed still has it thanks to solid singles “Legs (Keep Dancing)” and “BOP!” leading her charge. She’s ramping things up now that the set’s release is imminent, dropping off her latest single “iLike Moonlight.”

Where “Legs” and “BOP!” reminded us of the dance floor fillers she brought to us throughout her career, “iLike Moonlight” taps into her other strong suit: adult contemporary. It’s not a stirring ballad like her signature cut “Save The Best For Last,” but the midtempo cut does slow things down a bit with a sultry groove. It begins with soft Spanish guitar set against programmed drums and snaps as Vanessa delivers honeyed vocals as she describes some of her favorite things.

Though she never specifies that the song is about a romantic encounter until the bridge, the feel is there. Especially on the chorus, with her singing, “Come with me in the twilight zone / Better hurry ’cause I’m moving on my own / I’m dancing ’til the night is gone / Excited and I’m never gonna hide it / You know how I like it / I like moonlight.”

“iLike Moonlight” is sure to delight her fans, especially those who have been rocking with her from day one. It should also inspire even more interest in Survivor, which is set to arrive this Friday, August 23rd.
