It’s been said that success is the best revenge. Muni Long is living proof. Anyone who previously doubted the artist formerly known as Priscilla Renea has since had a front-row seat to her meteoric rise over the past couple of years led by her GRAMMY Award-winning single “Hrs & Hrs.” A proven R&B hitmaker, Muni is looking to follow the success of her 2022 major label debut Public Displays Of Affection: The Album with her highly-anticipated new album aptly titled Revenge.
Long didn’t title her next project Revenge to be petty, however. “The record is definitely my story. I’m focusing on my journey, elevating and growing as an artist. It’s so much deeper than simply writing songs. It’s therapeutic for me to get all my thoughts out,” the songstress shared in a heartfelt press statement about the album. “I’ve been working towards this moment for 17 years. I’m stronger than I’ve ever been. I’m focused on healing and leaving a brightness wherever I go. From my perspective, I think I did a really great job of expressing how I feel in the music. It’s like one big diary entry.”
Muni will open her diary to the public when Revenge drops on Friday, August 30th. Her label Supergiant Records/Def Jam Recordings is already touting the collection as the “R&B Album of the Year,” which may be a bold declaration for another artist but not Muni Long. After all, Revenge will feature her viral single “Made For Me,” the love song “Make Me Forget” and her newest single “Ruined Me.”
“Remind Me” is one of Muni’s more melancholy tracks. She is deep in her feelings after a breakup. “Every night, I’ve been crying / I can’t fall asleep / Laying in the bed in my diamonds / I still wear my ring,” she laments on the first verse. “Can’t even picture nobody else / I’m in too much pain / Since you left me all by myself / Nothing’s the same,” she finishes the verse.
Long continues pouring her broken heart into the dramatic chorus. “After you, I’ll probably never love again / This kind of heartbreak don’t ever end / Baby, you ruined me,” she confesses, ultimately done with love after this relationship went wrong.
“Ruined Me” is yet another excellent song from Muni Long. Honestly, she hasn’t released a bad single yet from Revenge and has us looking forward to its arrival later this month. After you listen to “Ruined Me” and watch Muni sitting up in her room in its visualizer below, be sure to pre-save Revenge.
