The wait for a new Jordin Sparks album is finally nearing its end. Almost a decade since releasing her third studio album Right Here Right Now, she plans to drop her latest set No Restrictions next month and has released another single entitled “Remember” to let us know she’s standing on business.

“It’s been many, many moons since I’ve released an album…a complete, cohesive body of work. I told you that when the date was set, you would know. I’m so excited to announce my next album, ‘No Restrictions’ is yours on Friday, September 13th,” the one-time American Idol wrote on Instagram to share the happy news and cover art seen above. “I’ve spent many years crafting this body of work, and I’m excited for you [to] experience this music for yourselves. Thank you for being patient with me, and allowing me the time to grow alongside this project.”

Sparks has experienced a few major life changes since her last non-holiday collection was released in 2015. She’s become a wife, a mother and an independent artist, and this LP will reflect her growth while staying true to her sound and who she is.

No Restrictions has a guestlist that includes Boyz II Men crooner Shawn Stockman, rapper-turnt-sanga T-Pain and Ghanaian Afro-dancehall artist Stonebwoy. Jordin’s 2023 single “Call My Name” is on the 15-song tracklist alongside her brand-new joint “Remember,” which features a slick interpolation of Michael Jackson’s classic “Remember The Time.”

Jordin finds herself trying to rekindle an old flame on “Remember.” She reminisces about the sparks that caught fire and turned into love and takes her ex back down Memory Lane over Dem Jointz and 300 CAM’s mid-tempo production.

“Do you remember how you used to know what I’m thinkin’? / Late night drives, in the backseat / Got my heart racing / Miss how it was / When we fell in love / Can you remember the time? / I still remember the time,” she sings, flooding the chorus with memories and the desire to get that old thing back. Aside from incorporating Michael Jackson, Sparks also adopts Ciara’s vocal cadence from “How We Roll” in the second verse where she shouts out Usher’s “Nice And Slow,” keeping “Remember” thoroughly steeped in R&B.
