Gallant has been tapping into a different side of his artistry as he prepares to release his upcoming album Zinc. next month. The angstier, alt-rock style he’s leaning into is definitely interesting and is bringing out a new creative energy from the singer. He continues showcasing his talents with the album’s latest release “Crimes Of Compassion.”

“Crimes Of Compassion.” finds Gallant back on the moody side of the street. The sound bed is based around a lot of softly strummed guitar, quick-paced and haunting, echo-y sounds. It all swirls around the singer, who in turn dives into the song with a poetic flair as he ponders a situation.

The verses look at someone who’s living life a little too close to the edge. However, what they’re doing is taking its toll. Gallant adds his two cents on the chorus, offering up a bit of advice along the way.

“’Cause these crimеs of compassion leave you looking like you’rе lost in a labyrinth / Yeah, it keeps running circles ’round, circles ’round you, oh,” he sings on the chorus. “These crimes of compassion make you mushy for that mind over madness / It keeps running circles ’round, circles ’round you, oh.”

In the song’s video, we see Gallant in a futuristic lab as he runs on a treadmill. We soon realize that he’s being used as the lab’s source of energy. He runs incessantly, so much so that we can see the electrical current leaving his body. He breaks free eventually, running to the ocean while the camera pans toward the waves and the screen eclipses to black.

We’ve got about a month before we get to hear Zinc., which also features previous singles “Coldstar.” and “Fly On The Wall. (Osaka Version),” on Friday, September 27th. Get into the latest from Gallant when you peep “Crimes Of Compassion.” and its video below.
