FLO has once again released a song for the girlies to dance to. The trio’s third single of the year, “Check” is a tune detailing how their men pass every test there is when it comes to dating as they sing over a upbeat, Y2K-reminiscent beat.
Stella Quaresma, Jorja Douglas and Reneé Downer take turns on the mic as they swoon over their love interests, explaining why they’re oh-so-perfect.
“Been looking far and wide to find the kind of guy who satisfies / I finally think I’ve found him now / ’Cause with the guys I’ve dated, probably should be jaded / Feels like I’ve been waitin’ for him my whole life,” Stella begins.
Jorja continues hyping up her new boo. “He’s takin’ me to cloud nine / I manifested him / I know the best is him,” she sings.
Reneé comes through on the super-catchy hook to reassure that this guy is legit while her girls agree. She happily sings, “So all my friends ask me, ‘Is he loyal?’ (Check) / ‘Does he spoil?’ (Check) / ‘Does he clear that (Check)?’ / ‘Before you met him did you do your background (Check)?’ / ‘Is he faithful?’ (Check) / ‘Gentlemen?’ (Check) / The way I trust him I ain’t gotta check.”
The lovey-dovey lyrics continue throughout the song as they prove to their friends (and the listeners) that their lovers are truly perfect tens. The song ends with the ladies repeating, “I love my baby / I love him so.”
Directed by Troy Roscoe, the “Check” visual features a 2000’s slumber party-themed girls’ night vibe. Stella, Jorja and Reneé dance, sing, take Polaroid pics and record grainy camcorder videos in cute, girly pajamas in a bedroom. They even hit some choreo that was also posted to TikTok along with other promo content for the single, which could potentially become the #CheckChallenge.
FLO has single-handedly revived the R&B girl group, and each new song has fans practically waiting at the edge of their seats for their debut album. While we wait for that day to come, FLO will be joining Kehlani on the Crash World Tour starting in September.
