Coco Jones is finally getting the shine she deserves. Her GRAMMY Award-winning song “ICU” went platinum and hit No. 1 on the Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. Just last week, the 2022 single also earned her a VMA nomination for MTV Push Performance Of The Year. Now the Bel-Air actress is entering a new era with her latest single “Sweep It Up,” an upbeat track that follows “Here We Go (Uh Oh),” her soulful, mid-tempo song released in May.
“I am so excited to give the world an uptempo R&B bop… I’ve been waiting on this for a while,” the singer said about the release in a statement. She amassed a dream team of collaborators to bring the bop to life. “Sweep It Up” is co-written by Jones, Lazaro Camejo and Leon Thomas and produced by London On Da Track, Ray Keys, Jeremy “J Dot” Jones and Cash Money AP.
Coco starts the song off by letting her lover know she’d rather not walk away, but she will if she has to. “I don’t wanna leave your love behind / Can’t keep up with the ways that you change your mind / If you can’t keep up and break my heart to pieces / Somebody else gon’ sweep it up, sweep it up,” she sings over thumping bass.
Later in the verse, Jones scolds her love interest for his lack of effort. She affirms, “I thought I was selfish but you take the cake / Come alive at night, and I always take the bait.” She even nods to “ICU” as if this song is about the same love interest with the lyric, “Two years, and still, I see you / And get stage fright / Two years I can’t lie / Wish that we were on the same side.”
Coco continues to remind her boo throughout the song of her worth and not to take her for granted as the song ends with her repeating, “Sweep it up, sweep it up.”
To accompany the release of “Sweep It Up,” she also dropped a cute, early 2000’s camcorder-style visualizer featuring the songstress and her girls vlogging their day on the town. The ladies start the video sharing their hot takes on dating before we see them broom shopping in Target. Also included is footage of Coco meeting and greeting her fans around the city with everyone joining in on her sweeping-motion dance that goes along with the song.
Coco Jones continues to put her refreshing spin on R&B and show the world that she is That Girl. With her success thus far and this catchy brand-new single, hopefully, she won’t keep fans waiting for her long-awaited debut album much longer.
