Teedra Moses made her ESSENCE Festival Of Culture main stage debut on Sunday night during a festive performance with fellow New Orleans-bred artists Tank And The Bangas, Dawn Richard and HaSizzle. That wasn’t Teedra’s only debut from this past weekend, however. The songstress kicked the weekend off properly on New Music Friday with the release of her brand-new single “WITH ALL MY HEART (ACOUSTIC).”
Don’t be fooled by the title. “WITH ALL MY HEART (ACOUSTIC)” is no love song from the “Be Your Girl” singer. Teedra has some things to get off of her chest where her broken heart resides. She takes her grievances right to the man who broke her heart, and she doesn’t mince words as she breaks it down for him.
“Knew what you were doing, yeah / Knew right from the start / No time quite like the present to say just how I’m feeling / You said and you did things that you did not mean / And now we’re here,” she sweetly sings on the first verse accompanied by only an acoustic guitar. Her soft vocals belie the venom that’s to come on the chorus.
“F**k you with all my heart,” she sings to her shady ex, meaning every word. Moses continues, “’Cause I loved you with all my heart, I did / Should’ve never made me fall in love / When you, you knew you’d never love me back / Should’ve never played with my heart / Should’ve never took me up / When you knew you’d let me down.” Telling someone off who did you wrong never sounded so lovely.
Teedra’s longtime background singer J. Black joins her later in the track as percussion and strings also get added to the mix. He contributes his harmonious supporting vocals that build as the song nears its conclusion.
“WITH ALL MY HEART (ACOUSTIC)” is Teedra Moses’ first solo release since her 2021 single “Make Me.” Never mind the three-year gap between songs, because according to Teedra, “I cook slow but I cook good!!” she quipped on Instagram. We hope that there’s also a new album from our girl on the stove simmering.
