After dropping a series of singles and their latest album Shindo last year, The Shindellas have been outside in 2024. They’ve been touring with October London – both as an opening act on The Rebirth Of Marvin Tour and as his supporting vocalists on festival dates and other shows. October has kept them booked and busy, but there’s a new man in their lives. That man is Q Parker, formerly of the group 112, who joins the ladies on their first new single of the year “Think Of Me Too.”
“Think Of Me Too” is the remix to The Shindellas’ single “Think Of Me,” which was released last September. Written and produced by the maestros of Louis York, the original was already a timeless love song with Stacy Johnson on lead and the addition of Q Parker transforms it into a timeless duet.
The song’s sound bed, Johnson’s first verse and the chorus with Kasi Jones and Tamara Chauniece joining her on harmonies remain as-is. Parker comes through on the new second verse and assumes the role of the man she’s singing to and reciprocates the love.
“People gon’ try and make you doubt your feelings / People gon’ try and say this love won’t last / Let ’em talk we both know we’ve got the real thing / Promise I’ll be your man for life / Cause forever you are my girl,” Q croons, reassuring his lady that his love is real and to ignore the naysayers.
For the second chorus, Q and the ladies unite. “So think of me kissing you (kissing you) / Think of me holding you in my arms / Think of me missing you (missing you) / Every day that we’re apart,” he sings with their harmonies wrapping around him like a warm hug for the remainder of the song.
The artists bring that loving feeling to the “Think Of Me Too” music video. The black-and-white capture has a vintage feel to match the classic R&B sound of the track. The group is a beautiful vision dressed in white blazer minidresses while Q is handsome as ever. By the look of the stained glass windows behind them in some scenes, they all appear to be in a church, and they make sure to take us to church with their soaring vocals.
The Shindellas and Q Parker’s “Think Of Me Too” is an exquisite remix. Parker is a big fan of the trio, so hopefully this isn’t the last time that they collaborate. If it is, though, they’ve blessed us with an amazing duet for the culture.
