The 2024 American Black Film Festival kicks off next week in Miami Beach, Florida, and it promises to be Black Excellence personified. In addition to another year of exclusive screenings, exceptional programming, talent-packed competitions and dope soirees, ABFF’s long-time partner Cadillac is getting into the groove with an immersive cinematic music experience in its eponymous Cadillac Lounge featuring performances by Lucky Daye and KIRBY.
Now in its 14th year as a proud sponsor of ABFF, the iconic brand will bring the Cadillac Lounge to life at The Fillmore Miami Beach on Thursday, June 14th and Friday, June 15th. The activation includes a celebration of Black music’s role in film with their Music In Motion concert series. Artist and creative director Alex Tyree’s Feel The SPACE has curated an intimate live music experience that will appeal to music heads and cinephiles alike.
King Of R&B contender and GRAMMY Award-winning singer Lucky Daye, whose highly-anticipated third album Algorithm is soon to be released, will perform on Thursday, while soul sista KIRBY will grace the stage on Friday with her powerful pipes. We’ve loved these two Bounce-Worthy artists for a long time – we selected KIRBY in 2016 and Lucky in 2018 – so we know that they will deliver nothing less than dazzling displays of their artistry.
Music will be central to the Cadillac Lounge experience, but it will also be a chic chill spot for festivalgoers that will feature live podcast recordings, curated conversations and interactive experiences with Cadillac’s stellar line-up of all-electric vehicles: the LYRIQ, Escalade IQ and OPTIQ. Attendees can anticipate appearances by world-traveler Jessica Nabongo; celebrated art collectors Sol Aponte, Jennia Fredrique Aponte and Dawn Limerick; and author, host and influencer Demetria L. Lucas who’ll bring the heat to Miami with her Rachet & Respectable podcast.
Cadillac’s connection to Black culture, music and film and its commitment to amplifying Black voices and artistry has made the partnership with Nice Crowd (formerly ABFF Ventures) an invaluable and enduring one. Juanita Slappy, Cadillac’s Head of Multicultural Marketing, echoed this sentiment in press for the festival.
“We’re thrilled to present cinematically inspired experiences at the festival,” Slappy stated. “The Cadillac Lounge at ABFF will cultivate conversations with cultural thought leaders and innovators; feature two incredible live performances celebrating Black Music Month; host live podcast recordings; and showcase our electric vehicle lineup, including LYRIQ test drives. These experiences will spotlight Cadillac’s authentic connection to culture and the innovative spirit of our electric vehicles,” she continued.
