With the release of Tems’ debut album Born In The Wild fast approaching, the rollout is rolling along. So far, she’s dropped singles, videos and tour dates, and last night she dropped in on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. While there, she performed a medley of “Born In The Wild” and her current single “Love Me JeJe.”
Tems was a gorgeous sight with a flawless beat, long wavy tresses that cascaded down her back and a cream-colored jumpsuit with a plunging neckline that hugged every curve. Not only was she dressed to impress, but her staging was immaculate. She stood in the center on a raised platform surrounded by tall grass and other foliage arranged to resemble an African savanna with the image of a blazing sunset projected behind her. Among the faux grassland was her band and background singers who were all dressed in sharp black suits.
With the stage set, Tems launched into her two-song-medley with an exclusive world premiere of the album’s title cut. She only sang a snippet of “Born In The Wild,” but it was a soulful, emotional introduction. Tems soon segued into “Love Me JeJe” and got the party started. She stepped down from her perch to work the stage and sing the lively Afrobeats number.
This was Tems second appearance on The Tonight Show following her 2021 debut with Wizkid to perform their global smash “Essence.” Her solo performance on Fallon also follows her recent stint at Coachella 2024 in April and shows that the songstress knows how to command the stage and everyone’s attention.
Watch her do just that when you press play below. For more of Tems, look out for Born In The Wild to be released on Friday, June 7th and make plans to catch her Born In The Wild World Tour, which begins in a few weeks in London.
