The Hampton Jazz Festival returned for its 53rd edition in 2023 in a mighty way. Now that we’re fully outside post-pandemic, the 54th Annual Hampton Jazz & Music Festival is rearing to go this June. A slight update to its name isn’t the only thing to note about Hampton, Virginia’s annual musical extravaganza during Black Music Month.
Happening Friday, June 28th to Sunday, June 30th at Hampton Coliseum, this year’s Hampton Jazz & Music Festival features a lineup filled with jazz, soul and R&B all-stars. Attendees can look forward to the festival kicking off on Friday night with a headlining set from Kem and additional performances by GRAMMY-winning songstress Ledisi, blues great Kingfish and jazz group Special EFX All-Stars.
Day two on Saturday night will have a lot for R&B and soul music lovers to enjoy. ’90s R&B phenomenoms Boyz II Men will headline the festivities while R&B ingenue Coco Jones, R&B/jazz saxophonist Boney James and R&B party band Kustom Made Band lead the bill.
The festival’s final day on Sunday will complete the event with a night to remember. Hampton’s own funk/jazz/soul fusion band The Fuzz Band will kick things off before R&B singer October London and jazz musician Brian Culbertson come to the stage. The performances will culminate with an exciting closing set by singer and multi-instrumentalist Jon Batiste.
With such an impressive batch of talent on tap, the 54th Annual Hampton Jazz & Music Festival is on track to be a glorious end to Black Music Month.
