It’s been a year since SWV and Xscape premiered their six-episode reality show SWV & Xscape: The Queens Of R&B on Bravo. After season one ended, fans were left wondering if both groups would be on speaking terms anymore much less going on tour together as originally planned. A lot can happen in a year, though, and they all – well, almost all – appear to have gotten past their differences to get to the bag. Xscape and SWV have announced that they’re finally coming together on The Queens Of R&B Tour with fellow ’90s R&B divas Mya, Total and 702.
SWV’s Cheryl “Coko” Gamble, Tamara “Taj” George and Leanne “LeLee” Lyons have agreed to co-headline the tour with Xscape’s Kandi Burruss, Tameka “Tiny” Harris and Tamika Scott. Conspicuously absent from Xscape’s four-woman lineup and all tour promo materials is LaTocha Scott. It’s unclear if she is still a member of the group and just taking a break to pursue her solo endeavors or if she’s been kicked to the curb by her sister and friends, but we’re sure that there’s some tea to be spilled in their reality show.
While we wait for season two to be sorted out, all systems are go for The Queens Of R&B Tour this summer. Co-produced by Mona Scott-Young’s Monami Entertainment and Live Nation, the tour takes off on June 27th in Concord, California before taking these ladies across North America through mid-August. Included on their 30-city itinerary are stops in Las Vegas, Dallas, Houston, Jacksonville, Atlanta, D.C., Virginia Beach, NYC, Atlantic City, Toronto, Detroit and Chicago. The tour will return to California to wrap things up in Los Angeles on August 18th.
This monumental tour will be a dream for not only fans of Xscape and SWV but for R&B lovers period. It’s no secret that ’90s R&B just hits different, and The Queens Of R&B Tour will be quite a hit.
