Eric Roberson’s catalog has been growing at a steady pace since last summer. This year alone, he’s dropped a new song a month with “Here For You” in January and “You,” which dropped last month. While we wait to see what March brings, we are enjoying the brand-new visual for “You” that has us feeling all the things.
The endearing ballad explores the feeling of completeness and fullness that comes from finding your true love. The concert video directed by Steven Jon of Oh Yeah Cool illustrates the message while memorializing Erro’s recent Valentine’s Day show at the John F. Kennedy Center For The Performing Arts.
Offering fans a pre-show, behind-the-scenes sneak peek, the video opens with Erro singing as the title crawls across the screen. The opening sequence shows the monochromatic musician clad in shades of brown with a signature chapeau completing his outfit. Backstage we see him hugg each of his sons and then kiss his beautiful wife who brings him flowers. In the next shot, he’s alone, centering himself before the show as he walks around the Concert Hall, taking in its opulence and the magnitude of the moment.
The next sequence takes us to soundcheck where we see the band make their final preparations for the show. Eric takes one last moment to himself before wrapping up soundcheck and heading back to the green room. Now ready for the show to start, he is sugar sharp in an off-white double-breasted suit with matching hat and shoes as he prays with his team before hitting the stage.
The visual then switches to actual footage of Roberson performing “You” at the Kennedy Center complete with his live vocals. We watch as the seasoned artist works the stage decorated with fresh white flowers and commands the audience’s attention with his talent and humor. The camera captures a glimpse of his family seated in the balcony as his wife looks on lovingly while he sings. This may or may not have been the moment we got something in our eyes.
The single and video for “You” are part of a larger project that the savvy soul singer is telling about a poet who lets his obsession with his art interfere with his love life. Referencing this in a recent press release, Erro prefaced the video drop with a call to action to fans as we embark on this new journey, “Let’s live and love out loud together.” Yes, let’s!
We’re excited to find out where Eric Roberson’s creativity takes us next. Let him take you to the Kennedy Center when you watch the video below. If you yearn to experience Erro live for yourself, make plans to see him on his 30th Anniversary Tour, which is currently underway.
