Move over New Edition and Jodeci, and make room for Mariah Carey on the Las Vegas Strip. She has announced that she’s returning to Sin City for a new residency to commemorate her smash 2005 album The Emancipation Of Mimi during Mariah Carey: The Celebration Of Mimi Live In Las Vegas.
The Queen Of Christmas isn’t waiting for the holidays to perform for her adoring public either. Mariah is coming to Vegas this April to coincide with the 19th anniversary of the release of The Emancipation Of Mimi. The album dropped on April 12, 2005, and the first date of The Celebration Of Mimi will be April 12th, with subsequent dates through the end of the month.
Carey is setting up shop at Dolby Live at Park MGM, which recently hosted Usher’s epic 100-date residency. Mariah’s residency will be a lot shorter – eight nights, to be exact – but it will be no less exciting for her fans. They will get to experience the songstress performing numerous songs from The Emancipation of Mimi, such as “We Belong Together,” “Shake It Off” and “Fly Like A Bird,” and “other hits from her unparalleled illustrious career,” according to a press statement.
This will be Mariah Carey’s third residency following previous Vegas runs for #1 to Infinity between 2015-2017 and The Butterfly Returns from 2018-2020. With her Las Vegas track record, it’s a good bet that this new residency may be extended beyond its initial eight dates as the 20th anniversary of The Emancipation Of Mimi approaches in 2025.
If you want to be in the house for Mariah Carey: The Celebration Of Mimi Live In Las Vegas, general tickets sales start on Saturday, February 10th at 10 a.m. PT. Exclusive presales for Citi cardmembers, MGM Rewards members and SiriusXM, Live Nation and Ticketmaster customers will run from Thursday, February 8th at 10 a.m. PT through Friday, February 9th at 10 a.m. PT. All tickets will be available for purchase via Ticketmaster.
