Sy Smith is days away from dropping her sixth studio album Until We Meet Again. We’ve been eagerly awaiting the set ever since she debuted the lead single “Slide” this past October. In the months since snatching our wigs, she’s continued to whet our appetites for the project by sharing nuggets of information such as its release date, the cover art and her upcoming tour dates. For her final big reveal, Sy unlocks the album’s tracklist for us to obsess over.
Until We Meet Again features 10 songs, all but one of which are produced by Zo! & Tall Black Guy. The dope duo were behind the boards on “Slide,” so we look forward to hearing them collectively make more beautiful music together on songs with intriguing titles such as “Flowers,” “Always Pick Up For You” and “All The Ways.” Speaking of intriguing titles, the sole track not produced by Zo! and TBG is Sy’s self-produced track “Why Do You Keep Calling Me.”
Previously announced collaborator Chris Botti will accompany the songstress on “Remember How To Fly,” while living legend Sheila E. and guitarist Leo Amuedo lend their talents to “Masterclass.” Sy also has a surprise on the LP with the addition of rapper Tracey Lee and trumpeter Dontae Winslow to the set on the track “Summer Of ’93.”
Until We Meet Again marks an exciting new chapter for Sy Smith. The project is her first release on The Foreign Exchange’s label +FE Music, and it is executive produced by +FE’s own Phonte. The album drops on Friday, January 26th, so plan to immerse yourself in the soul and sound of Sy Smith when it does.
