One of the cardinal rules of relationships is setting expectations. This requires a level of emotional intelligence and honesty that is sometimes bypassed in order to get what we want in the moment. On his latest single “SAME MISTAKE,” DESTIN CONRAD details the turning point of an affair where these essential steps were skipped in a duet with R&B royalty Alex Isley.
Over the somber Louie Lastic-produced track, CONRAD contemplates this entanglement from the first verse. “Why you always wanna play games? / Nighttime you’re mine, and daylight you act like you don’t even know my name / Hurts me to say, but I gotta move on,” he sings with pangs of regret.
Isley joins him to share her side of the story. “The nighttime brings promises I can’t keep,” she admits on her verse. “Givin’ in is the one thing that I don’t need / Got ahead of myself, gotta retrace my steps / ’Cause I lost mе the moment I took a piecе of you.” It all makes for a heartbreaking but real love story that was seemingly doomed from the start.
“SAME MISTAKE” is DESTIN’s latest duet and first new music since the release of his third EP SUBMISSIVE in October. The track serves as the lead single for a forthcoming deluxe version, SUBMISSIVE 2. He’s not making us wait long for the project, which will be released this Friday, January 19th.
As if the arrival of new tunes wasn’t enough, all the excitement came alongside the announcement of a special show in New Orleans next month. Amid his SUBMISSIVE Tour that begins on February 4th, NOLA’s own Ambré will join him for one night only on February 11th. For the rest of the tour, up-and-coming artist Amaria will be the supporting act. Grab tickets for the SUBMISSIVE Tour before they sell out from DESTIN CONRAD’s website, where you can also purchase VIP packages to select shows.
