CAMP made our 2023 pretty damn soulful thanks to his EP SummerBaby and singles such as "TASTE" and "CHAMPAGNE FOREVER." If he’d decided to take off 2024 for a bit of a rest, it would be well-earned. It doesn’t look like that’s the case, however. We’re just a few days into the new year, and the singer-songwriter is already breaking us off something new with his latest offering “Perfect Strangers (“Came With My Name’ Freestyle).”
“Perfect Strangers” seems to serve the same purpose that his song “CNTRL” did at the top of last year by acting as a mission statement of sorts. Over floating, flowery production provided by frequent collaborators Anikan & Vader, reintroduces himself to those who might not know about him. The song allows him to process a few things as he speaks on struggles, naysayers and his own motivations for doing what does. “I just came with my name / Had to do it with no money / Couldn’t do it for the fame,” he sings. “I just want the fortune that the game pays me / That’s how I’m here.”
CAMP further reflected on the song and its meaning to him on Instagram, writing, “Feels like a good day to reflect, and remind yourself of who you are & how far you come. GM! I normally process most things.. alone. On top of being grateful, I wanna send big [LOVE] & thanks to y’all for being willing to always hear me out, honestly.”
With 2024 just starting, we have a feeling that CAMP might have some big things ready to pop off in the near future. But first, allow him to reflect a bit when you peep him in the visual for “Perfect Strangers (‘Came With My Name’ Freestyle)” below.
