It’s been a minute since we last featured our girl A$H. on our pages back in 2018. In the time since, the talented singer has contributed backing vocals for a host of big names (including John Legend and Summer Walker), dropped her EP Pri$$¥ and even tied the knot with the love of her life. Such undertakings would keep most too busy to fit in much else, but she’s managed to squeeze in some studio time and she’s now offering us the fruit of that labor with her new single “Ooo Baby.’

“Ooo Baby” is produced by Terrence Brown of Jaspects and All Cows Eat Grass fame (who also happens to be A$H.’s hubby) and perfectly subverts what we’ve come to expect from pop-R&B. The track is mostly minimal, with just synth chords, hi-hats and snaps (and the occasional bump of kick drum) dressing A$H.’s vocal. Speaking of which, the singer chooses to give us a delivery that at times veers into coquettish pop-punk territory but then swoons into a lush, full R&B melody. The mix serves the song well as she teases and pleases with its lyrics.

“We in the red zone / We can run it up / Tell me when you’ve had enough / Ooo baby / Ooo baby,” she sings on the chorus. “It’’s a love song / We can make it lust / You know you’ve got the touch / Ooo baby / Ooo baby.”

Could it be that we’re falling in love with A$H. all over again? We certainly think so. And you will, too, when you give “Ooo Baby” a spin below.
