Jordin Sparks is living her blessed life this Christmas. The multi-platinum artist has snagged her second GRAMMY nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song with for King + Country for their collaboration “Love Me Like I Am.” In addition to her highly coveted GRAMMY nod, Jordin’s current single “Call My Name” is what she calls “just the tip of the iceberg” as she tees up the release of her next album in the new year. The wife, mother and singer keeps the musical blessings coming with some shiny new holiday tunes. Following her 2020 Christmas album Cider & Hennessy, Sparks shares the original single “Candy Cane Lane” and an EP of seasonal standards The Gift Of Christmas.
Not to be confused with the newly released holiday film of the same name, Jordin decks the halls and raises the roof with the upbeat bop “Candy Cane Lane.” On the song co-written by Emoni Matthews and produced by Bizkit & Butta, she shares her excitement for a Christmas holiday with all the trimmings, nostalgia and festive feels. “Jingle bells you know they’re ringing / Carolers you hear them singing / Christmas spirit’s taken over the town,” she exclaims enthusiastically.
She continues setting the scene on the chorus. “Cider by the fire / PJs are matching / Surrounded by your family / Oh you know it’s Christmas time again / Won’t you come on by, my friend / To Candy Cane Lane,” she sings offering us a warm invitation to join in on the yuletide fun.
Jordin flexes her vocal prowess as she transitions to traditional Christmas hymns and carols on The Gift Of Christmas. From the classical piano chords and serene strings to her beautiful red gown and sophisticated updo on the cover art, Sparks gifts fans a very elegant Christmas wrapped in impeccable, angelic vocals.
She ignites joy and hopefulness on “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “Angels We Have Heard On High” and “Silent Night.” Her interpretation of the classic “Jingle Bells” has us ready for a horse and carriage ride and quality time underneath the mistletoe with our holly-bae. While the EP is short, it is very sweet and lives up to its title.
We may have to wait a little longer for Jordin Sparks’ new album, but her musical Christmas gifts are available now. Get into “Candy Cane Lane” and sing along to its lyric video, and listen to The Gift Of Christmas below.
