Apple Music has tapped Coco Jones for their annual Carols Covered collection of exclusive remakes of Christmas and holiday songs by contemporary artists. For her contribution to the series, Jones steps into the iconic stilettos of Destiny’s Child to reimagine their song “8 Days Of Christmas.”

The effervescent songstress pulls triple duty on “8 Days Of Christmas,” taking on Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. That might be a challenge for many of the new R&B girlies, but not Coco Jones. She makes light work of the title track from DC’s fourth album and shows her range on lead and background vocals. Although some of the lyrics sound dated 22 years after the song’s initial release, Coco makes a crop denim jacket with dirty denim jeans, a gift certificate for CDs and the keys to a CLK Mercedes sound like 2023’s must-have gifts.

“It’s so impactful when a genre and a holiday really mesh perfectly,” Coco shared with Apple Music about the sonic synergy between R&B and Christmas. “I feel like that’s the foundation for a classic holiday song, and ‘8 Days Of Christmas’ is a classic,” she went on to say about this festive favorite from Destiny’s Child’s catalog.

Coco joins artists such as Gallant who duets with Jensen McRae on “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” and “BILLIE EILISH” rapper Armani White who flips Alvin And The Chipmunks’ “All I Want For Christmas (Is My Two Front Teeth)” into the rap “TWO FRONT TEETH” for the 2023 Carols Covered playlist.

Jones is no stranger to Christmas music. Last year she slayed “Silver Bells” for her label Def Jam RecordingsDef The Halls compilation. At this point, we wouldn’t be mad if Coco Jones’ debut album was a Christmas album because that would be the gift to keep on giving in perpetuity. However, we know that coming off of her career-changing EP What I Didn’t Tell You, which turns one on Saturday, November 4th, everyone is waiting for her to bring it on the R&B tip when she’s officially ready to drop her debut.

Til then, let Coco Jones and Apple Music help you to get your holiday groove on with “8 Days Of Christmas.” Listen below, and find the song exclusively on Apple Music and iTunes.
