As we ease into the year’s most lusty season, producer-songwriter Flwr Chyld and singer-songwriter Sebastian Mikael team up once again to provide the perfect soundtrack. On the talented duo’s new single “Eucalyptus,” Mikael is seemingly undeterred by a slightly older seductress and proceeds to shoot his shot.
While the groove alone is enough to set the mood, Sebastian makes his intentions plain as he sings, “Where you been all my life / Let’s go back to my place after / I like the view / It’s a lovely day / Lovely day to roll the dice, don’t think twice about it / And if it’s wrong, then I don’t wanna be right.” Flwr’s funk-fueled production of synth bass and percussion is the ideal foundation for Sebastian’s soulful energy and sincere come-ons. “Baby, what’s behind those pretty brown eyes / And those honey cherry blossom lips, ohh my,” he flirts with his seasoned love interest who is fine as a vintage wine.
Though the reasoning behind the title of the track is anyone’s guess as the fragrant tree is never actually mentioned in the lyrics, it certainly serves as a cooling and soothing balm for our music-loving souls.
The creative chemistry between Flwr Chyld and Sebastian Mikael is undeniable, and they certainly know a good thing when they’ve got it. Both were featured on multiple tracks on Flwr Chyld’s 2022 Luv N Chaos album and the deluxe version of Sebastian’s PHILEO EP, released earlier this year. “Eucalyptus” directly follows their single “U Should Be Mine” featuring Baby Rose, which dropped back in August. For fans wondering if the pair is trying to tell us something, Flwr Chyld shared that they do, in fact, have something bigger in the works together.
When asked by a fan on Twitter about a joint album between the two collaborators, he responded, “Still cookin’ but will let y’all know when it’s ready.” Well, it looks like this forthcoming project from Flwr Chyld and Sebastian Mikael is officially on our Christmas wishlist.
