Eric Roberson isn’t letting any grass grow under his feet when it comes to releasing new music. For the past few months, as soon as he drops one song, there’s another right behind it with a music video in tow. It’s as if he turned 50 and turned on the gas. After gifting fans with singles “Things Meant For Me” and “I Apologize” and their accompanying visuals, he gives the same treatment to his latest single “Just Don’t Hold It In.”

For his “Just Don’t Hold It In” video, Eric and his favorite director Steven Jon of Oh Yeah Cool keep it simple and give us a live performance visual. The twist here is that Erro gets some fresh air and sings live outside in a park.

Eric is posted up on the grass with trees behind him and cars zooming past the bucolic scene. He’s seated in a chair and has his microphone plugged into his Macbook on a table next to him. There’s one of those suitcase-like speakers that he utilized during The Box era at his feet to complete the look. Erro performs the song right there sitting down, and you can’t tell he’s not rocking a stage for thousands to share the song’s important message.

The video is shot in vertical format with the lyrics appearing on screen, making it perfect for sharing on social media. (Hint, hint!) At the end of the clip, Eric puts the mic down in the chair and saunters off towards the trees and fence, and we see one of his young sons run up to him to give him a hug. It’s a tender moment before fading to black.

Roberson shared some thoughts about the video concept in a press release. “As far as the music video to ‘Just Don’t Hold It In,’ I wanted to keep it simple, in hopes that the words would be the focal point,” he said. “Pure passion, principles, poetry and the nature of creativity.”
