Trumpeter Keyon Harrold continues his triumphant return with a new single entitled “Find Your Peace.” This time around, he teams up with GRAMMY-winning artists Common, Robert Glasper and Jean Baylor for a moving and inspirational groove about arriving at a place of internal alignment.
Mrs. Baylor opens up over haunting keys and reminds us, “What you can’t control, can’t get your time / Things will work out fine / Find your peace.” Prolific lyricist Common picks up from there, dropping knowledge. “Freedom in the unknown, I got while I was grown / A child is born, knowledge is the key like my bro on the horn / Peace is where we reborn,” he spits before shouting Harrold out.
This latest offering from Keyon Harrold follows his single “Don’t Lie” featuring Malaya, the lead single from his just-announced album Foreverland. The project will be his third studio album and is described via press release as “proudly emotional and dramatic, a triumphant journey that takes the listener through the good, the bad, the ugly and the beautiful experiences that lead to wisdom.”
Harrold shared more about the project, explaining, “What I can offer as a musician who plays an instrument with no words is an honest conveyance of emotion. Some of these notes, I play them because there’s not a better word.”
Foreverland is a proverbial family affair, as it features contributions from some of the industry’s most talented musicians who are also his longtime friends, including drummer Chris Dave, bassist Brandon Owens and pianist Jahari Stampley. The 10-track collection will also showcase contributions from singers PJ Morton and Laura Mvula.
According to Keyon, he’s cooking up something special on Foreverland. “It’s like the ingredients of a great meal: you don’t need just any pepper, you need a certain kind. Every musician on this record is a rare and essential element.”
