Tinashe is back, and she’s coming on strong. The talented performer announced her musical return with the release of her single “Talk To Me Nice” last month. The song heralds the impending arrival of her upcoming album BB/ANG3L. And now she’s giving us another bite of what’s to come with her latest release “Needs.”
“Needs” is right up the Nasty Nashe’s alley as the song’s producers Royce David and Jonny Made-It infuse it with a pop-ready synth line while borrowing the 808 thump and ticking hi-hats of current hip-hop. Tinashe takes it as an opportunity to get a little naughty while making her desires plain.
She gets very frank on the song, telling us why she’s what all the boys are begging for. But she’s completely the one in control, as she makes sure that her needs are met. “Open twenty-four hours / There’s no shirts or shoes required / Eat your heart out (Yeah) / My body is a buffet,” she teases. “Eat my p***y, boy, don’t call me / I can’t be ya one and only.”
She takes us to the grocery store for the song’s video, where she and her crew take it over for a good time and some tight choreography courtesy of Nina McNeely. She and her crew pop, lock and drop it on every aisle and checkout line they possibly can. It’s as fun to watch as it looks like it was to film.
Make sure to add Tinashe to your list — playlist, that is — when you stream “Needs” right here and watch her go on a supermarket sweep in the song’s video below.
