He continues his winning streak with his latest single “Smile.”
“Smile” is a love song penned for Otis’ biggest love: music. “This song is about my relationship with music,” he shared about the single on Instagram. “My whole life music has brought me so much joy, and now I get to make music and bring joy to everyone else.”
He channels classic soul to express the sentiment, with a guitar-laden track that takes the ’60s soul sound and updates it with some modern elements. They lay the groundwork for touching lyrics that work in any romantic situation.
“I’ve always known that we have something special / I’ve always known that there was only room for one / And it’s you,” he sings on the opening verse. “Now that I’ve found you / I will never let go / Turn the darkness into blue.” He follows those swoon-worthy lyrics with a simple chorus, letting everyone know that “you’ll always make me smile.”
The song’s visual fittingly shows Otis on tour. We see him bonding with his bandmates, meeting and greeting fans and giving love to the audience night after night. And, of course, he does it all with a smile on his face and love in his heart.
